Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test follows 15 celebrities from a variety of genres as they attempt to survive rigorous training sessions overseen by former Special Forces operatives. Jamie Lynn Spears experienced one of the most traumatic experiences on the show when her daughter Maddie, then 8, was left unconscious in a pond for several minutes after her ATV overturned in 2017. Jamie recently relived the trauma of her daughter’s horrible accident.

The 31-year-old said in an exclusive footage released prior to the show’s launch that the experience was triggering for her. Spears was seen diving backward from a helicopter into a vast body of water in the snippet. She explained that “anything high intensity around water is definitely going to bring back memories of the worst experience I’ve ever lived through.”

Jamie Lynn rose onto the dock with the assistance of a directing staff member after splashing into the water and said that the dive “reminds me of rescuing my daughter” as she burst into tears. “I didn’t know it would affect me like that,” she stated, coughing up water on the dock’s side. During a guest appearance on “Better Together with Maria Menounos” in May 2020, the actress broke down when reliving the terrible event.

I’ve never really talked about it publicly. So, without going into too much detail, we were sitting there watching her with every safety measure that could be taken when she somehow or another, drove into the water.

When we were finally able to get her out of the water… and the first responders took her from me, we thought she was gone. We thought we lost our daughter.

There’s nothing worse than looking at your child and just feeling like you’ve failed her. And I didn’t want her to think that I couldn’t save her, that I didn’t try to save her. That’s my biggest worry.

Though her teenage daughter has now recovered completely, the event has left Jamie Lynn with long-term effects. The debut of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test will premiere on Fox on January 4 at 8 p.m. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
