Kanye West has dug himself a deeper hole in recent weeks with anti-Semitic outbursts, flimsy allegations regarding race and the death of George Floyd, and his use of the r-word to refer to Vice President Joe Biden. TJ Maxx becomes the latest company to join a lengthy list of companies that have broken connections with Kanye West due to his recent actions.
The decision comes after announcements of similar actions by Gap and Foot Locker to remove Yeezy products from their stores. Gap claimed that YeezyGap.com had also been shut down. Adidas and Ye, who officially changed his name from Kanye West, ended their partnership on Tuesday. TJX recently emailed a statement to CNNBusiness.
At TJX we do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or hate of any kind,” “We have instructed our buying teams not to purchase this merchandise for sale in any of our stores globally.
The dispute is a result of West’s recent bizarre behavior, which includes claiming fentanyl of being the cause of George Floyd’s death and threatening to commit “death con 3” on Jews. Ye recently remarked that knowing who his true friends are, keeps him happy despite being rejected by so many brands.
There was a day where I was headed to Nashville to meet with George Farmer, who is the CEO of Parler, the day when we made the announcement. At that same day, Balenciaga was taking my imagery off of their site, and the Drink Champs [episode] was being taken down, and I said, ‘This is the happiest day of my life. I love cutting the grass low. People really wasn’t with you. They was part-time.’
Talking about the company, popular off-price retail chains TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls are run by TJX (TJX) Companies. They purchase unsold or excess inventory from suppliers and retailers, including premium labels like Gucci, Chanel, and Prada, and this is the reason why they have grown in popularity in the present inflationary market.
