Kim Kardashian’s birthday party was not a complete failure. The reality star, who is now 42, intended to celebrate her birthday by taking friends and family to an Usher performance in Las Vegas. However, they ended up at In-N-Out because their private plane was unable to land in Sin City because of strong winds.

Page Six reports, Kardashian managed to channel Usher’s closest friend Aaliyah with her look for the night. She dressed down in a vintage crystal mesh bra by Dolce & Gabbana, matching pants, and a cross choker. This is the same look she selected for her collaborative runway show with the house in September.

In her 2000 music video for “Try Again,” Aaliyah made the bedazzled bikini top iconic. Kardashian previously recreated the late singer’s look for Halloween in 2017 and faced backlash in the process. “I knew ‘Try Again’ was going to be a dance video, and she was going to wear one outfit for the entire thing. So it had to be really strong, and really her,” Aaliyah’s stylist, Derek Lee, told Nylon in 2020.

Kardashian appears to have been captivated by this particular piece for years. Kardashian revealed the top to Vogue in September, referencing to supermodel Gisele Bündchen’s appearance in Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2000 show wearing a version of the sparkling style and matching necklace. “I think I was in college and all I wanted to do was save up for this little bra,” she added.

Kardashian can now buy the designer’s collections whenever she wants, as the mother of four confessed she owns every piece she wore on the Milan Fashion Week runway. This should come as no surprise given the star’s extensive fashion collection. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
