Sean O’Malley is currently one of the rising stars in the UFC and has certainly worked hard to establish himself there. ‘Suga’ has a solid track record and earned the respect of many.

At UFC 280, ‘Suga’ squared off against Petr Yan in what was truly one of the most highly anticipated fights in recent memory. Sean O’Malley took the fight to Petr Yan hurting him multiple times on the feet. Petr Yan also put up a tough fight against Sean O’Malley by utilizing his MMA arsenal to test the rising star.

However, O’Malley won the fight under controversial means as he won via split decision. Speaking during the post-fight press conference at UFC 280, UFC President Dana White made it clear he wasn’t convinced by the win.

“It was one of those razor-thin close fights. I could see people saying Yan won the fight and I could see people saying O’Malley won the fight. What’s weird is, it wasn’t the way I thought it was with the judges scorecard. I thought depending on who you gave the first round to, determined who won the fight. But that was not the case, apparently.”
