Kanye West has enraged Jews all across the world with his constant antisemitic remarks. The rapper recently added fuel to the fire with an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored in which he wished death to the Jews who had wronged him. Several brands and corporations have dismissed him as a client in the aftermath of his antisemitic incident. Now, Vogue appears to be on that list.
A Vogue spokesperson told Page Six exclusively on Friday that neither the magazine nor its editor-in-chief Anna Wintour intend to work with Kanye West again after his anti-Semitic rants and support for the White Lives Matter cause. It should be noted, Wintour has had a long and close relationship with the rapper-turned-designer.
Wintour first invited him to her annual Met Gala in 2009 before featuring him and now-ex-wife Kim Kardashian on the cover in 2014 after their wedding. Just last month, Wintour modeled the Yeezy founder’s new sunglasses line in press images sent out to promote the shades, even after he publicly bullied Kardashian online about their children.
Furthermore, on Oct. 4, Wintour sent her old friend, Baz Luhrmann, to film West’s reconciliation with one of her editors, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson. Just days after he attacked her fashion sense when she reprimanded him for wearing a White Lives Matter T-shirt during his Paris fashion show.
However, insiders shared on Friday that Wintour is finally ready to let go of the Grammy winner after he made a series of alarming threats against Jewish people. Kanye then aggressively doubled down on them despite being offered the opportunity to apologize. A source said in a statement given to the outlet,
“Anna has had enough. She has made it very clear inside Vogue that Kanye is no longer part of the inner circle.”
It’s unclear what that means in practice. However, it appears he’ll no longer be welcome at the Met Gala and won’t be featured on the magazine’s cover again. Stay tuned to Thirsty for future updates.
