Chris Jericho is known for his flashy rock star persona. Journalists and industry colleagues have dubbed him one of the best professional wrestlers of all time. The former athlete recently signed an agreement with AEW that will keep him in the company through December 2025.

According to Variety, reigning ROH World Champion Chris Jericho has re-signed with AEW. With the new contract, Jericho will take on a more behind-the-scenes role in AEW, serving as a producer and creative advisor for the product, as well as continuing to nurture future talent.

Jericho said on the deal, “I guess the simple answer is ‘Why not?’ Things have been going so well in the company, and I really do feel that this is my company. It’s tattooed on my heart, so to speak. I’ve been here since day one, and there’s really no reason not to be here continuing forward.”

Chris Jericho has been a part of AEW since the promotion first started in 2019. He also became the inaugural AEW World Champion, a title that earned him the moniker of Le Champion.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that while the announcement framed it as a contract extension, it was actually an entirely new deal. According to Dave Meltzer, Jericho’s initial deal with the company was set to expire in January 2024. He will be on his initial deal until the first week of January, with the new deal expiring in January 2026.

Meanwhile, at 51 years old, Chris won his eighth world title, beating Claudio Castagnoli last month on Dynamite to become the new ROH World Champion.

We will have to wait and see what Chris has in store for us next. Stay tuned to Thirsty for further updates.
