Missy Elliot has been an icon in the hip-hop world for decades. Her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia, recently honored her with a street named after her. Now she had a bigger moment than the street being named after her that had her very excited.

Elliot shared an Instagram post on Tuesday featuring a photo of her smiling ear-to-ear in a golden Versace outfit while holding the Missy Elliott BLVD street sign. She was also hyped about the street being on Google.

Missy was also honored with a key to the city on Monday with a ceremony. McLean Street was changed to Missy Elliott Boulevard.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin declared October 17th to be Missy Elliott Day in the state. Also in attendance were Virginia-bred stars Pusha T, Trey Songz, and Timbaland.

“As a native Virginian, she has inspired young women in the Commonwealth and beyond to pursue careers in the arts and music,” said Youngkin. “She is the American dream!”

In August, the Portsmouth City Council voted unanimously to rename the local street in the entertainment sector to Missy Elliott Boulevard. What a huge honor. Congrats to Missy!
