In 2020, George Floyd was killed by police office Derek Chauvin who kneeled on his neck for nine minutes. He died as a result of lack of oxygen that caused brain damage and heart failure. His death sparked nationwide outrage. More than two years since that day, Kanye West has caused some controversy for himself by claiming that George Floyd’s death was caused by a Fentanyl overdose.

George Floyd’s family attorney Lee Merritt spoke on TMZ live to explain the potential lawsuit that may be filed by the family against Kanye West. Lee Merritt told TMZ that George Floyd’s brother Philonise Floyd is determined to pursue legal action against Kanye West.

He also mentioned that Kanye West targeting George Floyd made things more hurtful, considering he set up a college fund for his daughter in 2020. Lee Merritt also stated that he is looking into what Candace Owens put into her documentary as well. It seems like emotional distress seems to be the path they are exploring.

There’s still a long way to go before a case is filed. It looks like Lee Merritt and George Floyd’s family will have to go through Candace Owens’ documentary to what she said and if there any basis for legal action. Stay tuned as we will try to keep you updated on developments in this story.
