Red Notice premiered on Netflix on November 4th, 2022, and is an action comedy film starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Ritu Arya. The movie became the most-watched Netflix movie of all time. Now, producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia gave an exciting update about the status of the film’s two upcoming sequels.
The film follows FBI Agent John Hartley (Johnson), who reluctantly teams up with a notorious art thief, Nolan Booth (Reynolds), to stop an even more notorious art thief, Sarah Black/The Bishop (Gadot). All three individuals, though, have ulterior motives, and nothing is quite as it seems to be.
Following Red Notice‘s high viewership, two sequels were officially green lit and will be filmed back-to-back. Now, the Red Notice producers are giving an update on these sequels. Red Notice creators Flynn and Garcia provide a favorable update on the movie’s sequels in an interview with Collider. Even while it doesn’t appear that production is about to begin, a lot is still going on in the background. Flynn opened up about the subject first.
Well, we have a ‘Red Notice 2’ script and almost [Red Notice] 3. The plan is hopefully if Hiram and I have of our way that we would make those movies back to back. But it’s going to be all about the scripts and how we feel and how Dwayne, Gal, and Ryan feel about them. But that franchise is a blast and obviously Netflix really wants it, and Rawson [Marshall Thurber, director, and screenwriter] is committed.
Garcia then chimed in to say, “Yeah, Rawson (Marshall Thurber) is working away, and we were just talking to him about it the other day. He’s deep in it and that’s his baby. So, he’s grinded away. We’re excited to be able to get into it and see a new draft that he’s about to deliver us to us very soon.”
Red Notice‘s producers seem very optimistic about the sequels, and they confirmed that development is well underway. More information regarding the sequel’s plot may soon become available as the scripts near completion. Reynolds, Johnson, and Gadot, the film’s central trio, are anticipated to return for both sequels, according to what is currently known.
Red Notice 2 will probably pick up where the original movie left off, which saw the trio considering a visit to Paris’s Louvre Museum. It remains to be seen what they are after or whether they can trust one another. Meanwhile, Red Notice 3 will most likely continue to follow the lead trio on their adventures, but the plot won’t be revealed until Red Notice 2 decides where it’s going.
