Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson needs no introduction when it comes to the pro wrestling world, as he is still regarded as one of the all-time greats. He is also a dominant force in Hollywood and brings huge star power to any film he acts in.

The Rock hosted WrestleMania 27 before facing John Cena in the main event at WrestleMania 28 and WrestleMania 29. Their first match billed as “Once in a Lifetime,” was advertised a year in advance.

Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz about ‘Cena vs. Rock’ in his book, “There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE.” He explained how The Rock did not like Vince McMahon’s original idea for his WWE return.

“Rock reached out to Vince,” Gewirtz wrote. “He didn’t just want to come back. He wanted to give back to the business and asked Vince what he could do. Vince asked Rock about a match, which Rock wasn’t feeling. Rock had something bigger in mind. He couldn’t fuel his passion with a single match.”

The Rock was last seen for the 20th Anniversary of Friday Night SmackDown back in 2019. We will have to wait and see whether he will be back in time for WrestleMania 39 or not, but odds are we will see The Great One again on WWE television.
