Tom Hardy is best known for his tough guy characters in films such as Inception, Dunkirk, and Venom, as well as the blockbuster television show Peaky Blinders. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in the 2015 movie The Revenant. Tom has proven himself from time to time, and it is not limited to acting.

According to The Guardian, on Saturday, Tom Hardy made an unexpected appearance at a martial arts competition, ultimately winning. Hardy competed in the Ultimate Martial Arts Championships’ 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championship at Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes, according to Hyde News & Pictures. Attendees witnessed the Mad Max: Fury Road star overpower his opponents and win all of his battles while dressed in a blue gi.

“Edward Hardy,” the actor’s true name, received Hardy’s certificate of achievement. The championships’ spokesperson described Hardy as a “really nice guy” who was a “real pleasure” to have at their tournament. “Everyone recognized him but he was very humble and was happy to take time out for people to take photographs with him,” the spokesperson said.

It was a real pleasure to have him compete at our event.

Hardy, a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, quietly turned up to a martial arts competition before. The actor won the REORG Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Wolverhampton in August, a tournament to benefit military personnel, veterans, and emergency service workers. Hardy is a trustee for REORG, a charity that teaches jiu-jitsu to those who have suffered serious injuries or are suffering from PTSD and depression.

Hardy’s opponent, veteran Danny Appleby, told local media that he was taken aback when he saw the actor, whom he described as a “genuinely a really nice guy,” arrive at the tournament’s semi-final. “I was shell-shocked,” Appleby said. “[Hardy] said, ‘Just forget it’s me and do what you would normally do.’”

Appleby said the actor is “a really strong guy … You wouldn’t think it with him being a celebrity.” “I’ve done about six tournaments and I’ve been on the podium in every one. But he’s probably the toughest competitor I’ve had – he certainly lived up to his Bane character, that’s for sure,” he said, referring to Hardy’s character in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Tom’s talent never ceases to astound his followers and admirers. Let’s see what more he has in store for us. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
