UFC 279 was going to see Nate Diaz face Khamzat Chimaev in Diaz’s final match for the company. However, Chimaev was pulled from the fight after failing to make weight.

Chimaev was unable to make weight, so he is out of the fight. Diaz weighed in at 171 pounds, but Chimaev was 178.5. Since he was 7.5 pounds overweight, that disqualified him from the contest.

Instead, Khamzat will now be facing Kevin Holland. Conor McGregor took to Twitter and made it clear that he wants the UFC to punish Khamzat Chimaev for not making weight.

My opinion they should have pulled khamzat from the card entirely. Reconfiguring bouts, and with a more favorable bout for the failed cutter, will only make many others in the game follow suit. The smirks on the scale where enough for me. Pull from the card and starve. McG UFC.

Nate Diaz will be fighting Tony Ferguson instead in his final fight. We will have to wait and see how Diaz will fare in his final fight. Only time will tell how things will turn out after such a rocky road before the event.
