Ne-Yo Says Estranged Wife Crystal Smith Should Get A Job Amid Divorce

Ne-Yo and Crystal Smith were married in Los Angeles in 2016. However, Crystal filed for divorce from Ne-Yo a few months ago, claiming that he fathered a kid with another woman. Recently, Ne-yo stated in court that his estranged wife Crystal Smith should “Get A Job” amid their divorce.

BET reports that things between Ne-Yo and his separated wife Crystal Smith are heating up. Crystal filed for divorce from the singer last month, requesting temporary and permanent alimony, property partition, and primary custody of their three children, Shaffer, Roman, and Isabella.

During a court appearance on Friday, September 9th, however, Ne-Yo opposed his estranged wife’s demands, advising her to “get a job.” The “So Sick” singer also wanted to preserve their Georgia mansion, saying that he has “been fully responsible for the mortgage and maintenance of this property since the date of purchase.”

Ne has also dismissed Crystal’s request for alimony and wanted to joint legal and physical custody of their children. According to court records, Ne-Yo “asserts that he is financially, physically, and emotionally capable of serving as a joint physical custodian of the parties’ three minor children alongside Crystal.” 

The court hearing comes less than two months after Crystal publicly chastised her husband for being unfaithful, stating that he fathered a child outside of the marriage with another woman. Crystal shared her mindset on Instagram, which she was going through.

“8 years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them.”

Ne-Yo liked the post and replied with his own remark. Ne-Yo requested Crystal to retain some personalism. The issue is not that to fly in a public forum. Later, he requested his wife to respect his and his family’s privacy.

“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”
