Pat Stay achieved phenomenal success in the battle rap realm, which helped him become a King of the Dot Champion. Pat was stabbed to death on Sunday morning in Fairfax, Nova Scotia. Police have now said that they do not believe it was random.

According to CTV News, Police believe the murder was not random as they continued to investigate the event on Wednesday, September 7. Pat Stay was reportedly stabbed at the Yacht Club Social in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at 12:30 a.m., leaving him critically injured and dying in the hospital. Police are investigating his death as a homicide, but they haven’t said why he was attacked or whether any arrests have been made.

“At this point, it’s still the very early stages,” Cst. John Macleod from Halifax Regional Police said in a statement.

We’re looking into all avenues to determine what it was that occurred that night. We are asking anyone that has information, or might have video, or photographs from the time or anywhere around the incident, to contact police to help us further this investigation.

Friends of Pat Stay launched a GoFundMe campaign to aid with funeral expenses. By Thursday morning, September 8, they raised $179,220 CAD. “We are setting up this fund to help raise money for our fallen brothers family,” the GoFundMe description reads.

He has been taken from the world far too soon and many will be devastated forever. Pat Stay was a very honorable man who was on his way to a bright future. Our heart hurts for his family and friends at this time so we hope to help ease some of the pain by ensuring his family has help through this process.

Following his death, rappers like Eminem and Drake paid tribute to Pat Stay. Em referred to him as “one of the best battlers of all time,” and Drizzy referred to him as “one of my fav rappers ever.”

Royce Da 5’9, The Alchemist, R.A. The Rugged Man, NLE Choppa, and Statik Selektah, as well as fellow battle rapper Dizaster, also paid tribute online. Let’s see what the cops discover next. R.I.P.
