Amusement park rides are fun, except when they crash to the ground. This is a rare instance, as there’s a lot of daily maintenance and fine-tuned engineering keeping them steady. However, whenever a ride malfunctions, the consequences are dire.

TMZ reports that the Drop Tower ride recently fell down in an amusement park in India. The ride was 50 feet above the ground at the time of the fall. Usually, it would slowly descend while those enjoying the ride would feel the thrill.

The amusement park ride in this instance simply fell downwards at a high speed while it spun around in circles. The ride had 30 people aboard, and at least 10 of them were injured after the shocking incident.

The operators of the ride reportedly fled after it fell. While they could have fled the scene to avoid an angry mob, the action itself suggests culpability. The fall happened in Mohali, Chandigarh.

The police state that they’ve filed an FIR (First Information Report) against the organizer of the fair where the ride broke down. There’s still an ongoing investigation on the matter. Stay tuned for more.
