Eminem is one of the industry’s most successful rappers. The Real Slim Shady has a huge list of accomplishments to his name. He is now only one award away from achieving the EGOT status.

Marshall Mathers moved one step closer to the EGOT after winning the Emmy Award for outstanding variety special (live) at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday night.

Eminem has 15 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for original songs under his belt. The rapper and songwriter just need a Tony Award to achieve the EGOT title.

The title of EGOT is given to artists who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar were among the memorable performers for the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, which was assembled together by Pepsi, the NFL, and Roc Nation. Along with the “Lose Yourself” rapper, the artists are all winners.

Jay-Z won an Emmy as well. This was the first time these five multi-award-winning performers appeared together on stage at the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. Collectively, the artists have been awarded 43 Grammys and between them have 22 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

While none of the Emmy-winning artists were present to accept the award, Adam Blackstone, who also won an award for his outstanding music direction, shared his biggest challenge.

Each of those five artists could have headlined themselves easily, but I was entrusted to make sure that everybody had their fair time allotment and that for me, I did not want to leave the viewer wanting anything more or missing their favorite moments from each of their favorite artists.

I took pride in cultivating everybody’s 90 to 100 seconds, and it came together to be what is now the Emmy award winning Super Bowl halftime show.

Only 17 people have achieved EGOT status. Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, Mel Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, and Andrew Lloyd Webber are among those in the group. Jennifer Hudson most recently joined the EGOT club in June, after winning the Tony Award for best musical as a producer on “A Strange Loop.” Another recent winner is John Legend.

With his unrivaled achievements, Eminem will soon be ruling that status. We’ll just have to see if a Broadway play about Eminem’s life might be in the pipeline to get him that EGOT honor. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
