Johnny Depp Makes A Comeback As The Moonman At The VMAs

After winning the complex defamation lawsuit, Johnny Depp was the topic of everyone’s water cooler conversation. Fans eagerly awaited his return after he abruptly vanished following his defamation judgment. Johnny Depp just made a comeback as Moonman at the VMAs, his first television appearance since his trial, that has surprised many.

On Sunday, August 28th, Johnny Depp made his first major television appearance after winning his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard at the 2022 MTV VMAs.

As the award show began, Johnny could be seen floating in the astronaut suit. His costume was designed to look like the famed VMA trophy that each winner receives. Before host LL Cool J took the stage, he floated above it. In the footage, he appears to be saying, “I needed the work.”

While Johnny has been busy since the jury’s decision in his favor against Aquaman, he hasn’t made any large broadcast appearances until the award event. Prior to the verdict, the Ed Wood actor had traveled to England to appear at some of Jeff Beck’s gigs with his friend. The duo also released a new album, and Johnny plans to tour in 2023 with his supergroup the Hollywood Vampires.

Aside from musical engagements, Johnny has been seen filming new movies, including Jeanne du Barry, which is now filming in Paris and will star him as King Louis XV. He’s also set to appear in the upcoming film Modigliani, which is based on the famous French painter of the same name. Aside from movies, he’s apparently struck a deal with Dior to be the brand’s new face.

While Amber has attempted to overturn the judgment and appeal the jury’s decision, Johnny appears to be in a good mood after winning the defamation case. Following his victory, he issued a statement thanking the jurors and his supporters.

“From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
