Barbie Ferreira is a phenomenon that became a favorite of Euphoria thanks to her character, Kat Hernandez. Now, Euphoria fans will be shocked to learn that Barbie Ferreira recently revealed she will not be returning for season 3.

Euphoria will no longer have the beloved Kat Hernandez as a character. Barbie Ferreira announced her departure from the show on social media via an Instagram story. Ferreira said in her Instagram story that she would not be reprising her role as Kat in Season 3 of the successful HBO series.

“After 4 years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you, Katherine Hernandez.”

Barbie’s departure is also a tad unsurprising, considering Kat’s lack of a plot in the second season and Ferreira’s burgeoning stardom outside the show. Kat’s plot was pushed to the sidelines in Season 2, leaving many fans to wonder what was going on with the character throughout the series.

There were several episodes where Kat didn’t seem to have a line or if she did, it wasn’t one that was front and center of the action, which was a stark contrast to the previous season and the journey that Kat had on screen.

It is unfortunate that Kat will not be in Season 3, but it is disheartening for fans who enjoyed having her on the show. Hopefully, Ferreira will continue to shine in films like HBO Max’s Unpregnant, in which she co-stars with Haley Lu Richardson and her most recent role as Nessie in Jordan Peele’s Nope.

It’s a sad day for fans who grew fond of Kat and her storyline throughout her time on Euphoria. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more information.
