Diddy stirred a new debate when he proclaimed that R&B was dead during an Instagram Live session. Chris Brown jumped into the debate to dismiss the notion. Now another iconic artist is slamming Diddy for his comments.

During an interview with the SiriusXM show Bevelations, Usher scoffed at the notion the genre was anything but alive and well. The R&B star also had some words for Diddy.

“When I do hear people, even like Puff saying, you know R&B is dead, he sounds nuts to me. It sounds, it sounds, it sounds crazy. You know, especially knowing he was a pioneer in understanding and beneficiary of it.

“You know, the source that is R&B created the breath of life that was breathed into Hip Hop. It wouldn’t be. There would be no Hip Hop if there were not R&B, so it’s blasphemous to hear me say, to hear people say anything, especially Hip Hop cats, to say anything about R&B.”

Diddy posed the question “Who killed R&B?” during an Instagram Live session on August 17th. He also got in a heated debate with Timbaland, who found it difficult to answer the questions Diddy put before him.
