WNBA star Brittney Griner was arrested for drug charges in Russia back in February. She has been detained in Russia ever since, despite several people considering her detainment wrong and a political move.

In fact, even US President Joe Biden declared that Griner has been wrongfully detained, and that he is working on getting her released. Now, Dennis Rodman has also joined the fight to get Griner released.

In a recent interview with NBC News, the former NBA legend declared that he is planning on visiting Russia, and putting his diplomacy skills to use, in order to get Griner released.

I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl … I’m trying to go this week.

This would not be the first time that Rodman has acted as an informal diplomat, having cultivated diplomatic relations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As of now, Griner is facing nine years of imprisonment, for what seems to be an honest mistake. Here’s hoping that Rodman’s efforts bear fruit.
