Christina Ricci has been in Hollywood since she was ten years old. She will be reprising her role as Wednesday Addams for Netflix’s “Wednesday” series. However, that’s the only eccentric 1990s character she’s ready to look back on.

Ricci recently made an appearance on “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast. The “Yellowjackets” star admitted that she can’t watch the 1995 ghost thriller “Casper” again because of she thinks her performance in the movie was awful. In the movie based on the Casper the Friendly Ghost comic character from Harvey Comics, Ricci, then 13 years old, played Kat.

Ricci re-watched “Casper” with her son 8-year-old son Freddie Heerdegen. She was reminded of how embarrassing the role had been for her at the time. Ricci also admitted that she did not try as hard as she should have.

If you actually watch ‘Casper,’ I’m terrible in it. People get so upset when I say that. Because I’m like, ‘No, it’s a wonderful movie.’ Because it’s a childhood treasure to people. But I am terrible in it. I was 13. There was a lot going on in my life. Everything was very difficult. I was just always annoyed, and I just don’t think I tried very hard, to tell you the truth. Embarrassingly, I have to say, I don’t think I tried as hard as maybe I should have. Not a lot of commitment. It took me a long time to parent myself into becoming a functional adult.

Following her “Addams Family” arc in the 1991 film and its 1993 sequel, “Addams Family Values,” Ricci’s “Casper” role came right after. And it turned out that Ricci’s “annoyed” perspective on the world complemented her cynical, caustic character Wednesday Addams well. Ricci will now make an appearance with Jenna Ortega playing the title character in the Netflix series “Wednesday.” Check out the videos below.
