Aaron Rodgers has been compared to a lot of people over the years, including Nicolas Cage. Fans have thought that he resembled the Con Air actor, and it seems he’s okay with that. The legendary QB was recently surprised when he received a bust of Nicolas Cage, and he wasn’t afraid to flaunt it.
According to ESPN, Aaron Rodgers met with reporters at Lambeau Field on Tuesday and showcased a new locker trinket. It was a sculpture of Nicolas Cage’s head. “It’s Nic Cage!” Rodgers proclaimed when a reporter questioned who the likeness was supposed to be.
“Somebody sent this to me yesterday with no message.”
Rodgers said that this appears to be some kind of trap. Packers fans will recall that Rodgers showed up to training camp in July dressed as the hero of “Con Air,” one of Cage’s most famous characters. Rodgers stated that the bust accurately represented Cage in his new film, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” in which the actor plays himself. The reporters were less convinced.
This week, the New Orleans Saints traveled to Wisconsin for joint practices with the Green Bay Packers. It’s possible that word of Rodger’s fandom spread to the Bayou, and the bust came along for the trip.
While it is unclear who was responsible for the Nic Cage gift, It appears Rodgers appreciated the surprise. Let’s see if any new details emerge in the future. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
