J.K. Rowling is well known as the author of the Harry Potter books. After denouncing Friday’s attack on fellow British author Salman Rushdie, she recently received a public threat from an Iran-supporting extremist. Many people are rallying around her, and Warner Bros. Discovery has now joined them.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Discovery put out a statement criticizing threats made against J.K. Rowling. The threats were directed at Rowling’s reaction to Friday’s attack on Salman Rushdie. On Saturday, the author said she was working with police after receiving the death threat.

“Feeling very sick right now. Let him be ok,” she tweeted. In response, someone wrote, “Don’t worry you are next,” causing the Harry Potter author to turn to Twitter, asking, “Any chance of any support?”

Rowling later thanked people who sent her messages of support, noting that the police are “involved” now and had already been involved in other threats. “Warner Bros. Discovery strongly condemns the threats made against J. K. Rowling,” the entertainment giant said on Sunday.

“We stand with her and all the authors, storytellers, and creators who bravely express their creativity and opinions. WBD believes in freedom of expression, peaceful discourse, and supporting those who offer their views in the public arena. Our thoughts are with Sir Salman Rushdie and his family following the senseless act of violence in New York. The company strongly condemns any form of threat, violence or intimidation when opinions, beliefs, and thoughts might differ.”

Salman Rushdie is in a stable condition now. Let’s hope Rowling stays safe, and for that, she needs to be extremely cautious. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
