Kendrick Lamar is possibly one of the most successful rappers on the scene right now. Not only has he enjoyed widespread acclaim, but he has also received several accolades for his groundbreaking work.

While Kendrick is not new to receiving awards for his music, it now seems that he might be foraying into new territory. If reports are to be believed, K.Dot might have an Academy Award under his wing, come next year.

According to The Hollywood Report, the rapper has met the qualifications for being nominated in the Academy Award’s Best Live Action Short category. “We Cry Together,” which is a six-minute short film, is the work that is expected to be nominated.

The short features Kendrick himself, along with actress Taylor Paige, acting as a couple going through a messy and toxic separation. The short is based on Kendrick’s track with the same name.
