California-based rapper Young Slo-Be was behind hits including “Smurkish Mode,” “I Love You,” and “Unforgivable” with Drakeo the Ruler. The Stockton native was recently shot and killed. He was just 29 years old.

Thizzler On The Roof, an Oakland-based media outlet that collaborated with Slo-Be, corroborated the information. Disean Jaquae Victor, the rapper’s real name, passed away on Friday morning. Thizzler On The Roof took to their Twitter to make the tragic announcement.

We’re devastated to announce that rising star Young Slo-Be was shot & killed this morning. It was an honor to work with Slo-Be the last couple of years and we’re heartbroken to say goodbye. Our condolences go out to his family & loved ones.

The incident, according to CBS News, occurred in Manteca, California. A little after 8 am, police responded to allegations of a shooting. When the police came, they discovered a male shooting victim who had died as a result of his injuries.

Police said the shooting doesn’t seem to have been a random act, but no motive has yet been given for it. At this time, no suspicious information has been made public. We send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP. Check out the tweets below.
