Leonardo DiCapiro is one of Hollywood’s most highly acclaimed actors and always looks at ease on television or the silver screen. He and the legendary director Martin Scorsese are frequent collaborators in cinema. DiCaprio and Scorsese are now reuniting for their seventh movie together.

The Hollywood Reporter recently broke the news that Scorsese and DiCaprio have already planned their next project. It will come after Apple’s Killers of the Flower Moon. The pair is gearing up for the adaptation of a forthcoming nonfiction book by David Grann called ‘The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder.’

The plot of Wager is set in the 1740s. It revolves around the surviving crew of a British ship that crashes on the Brazilian coast after pursuing a Spanish ship. A second ship carrying three sailors accuses the men on the other boat of being mutinous as it approaches Chile’s coast, where the captain and his crew have been battling to survive for the last six months.

It is unknown who will write the screenplay for The Wager. Richard Plepler of Eden Productions is attached to executive produce the movie adaptation, which will be produced by Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas for Imperative Entertainment. It also includes Scorsese for Sikelia Productions, DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson through their Appian Way Productions, and Martin Scorsese for Sikelia Productions.

Since their initial collaboration on Gangs of New York in 2002, Scorsese and DiCaprio have collaborated on a number of movies. That initial project was followed by The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Killers of the Flower Moon, which is also based on a non-fiction book by Grann. The upcoming movie is not anticipated to be released until April of next year.
