Sir Patrick Stewart has been part of many exciting sci-fi franchises. While he’s been a consistent part of the X-Men series and even played a key role in 1984’s Dune, he’s most well-known for his role in Star Trek. That being said, it’s been a while since he played that part in a big way.

The legend played the role of Jean-Luc Picard in the iconic Star Trek: The Next Generation and most recently, Star Trek: Picard. While speaking for the Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the 82-year-old actor expressed that he’s quite open to playing Picard on the big screen again.

Yes. In answer to that bluntly. I think that would be a very interesting and exciting and worthwhile thing to achieve.

Stewart wants to play Picard alongside the original Star Trek: The Next Generation’s cast. Even though there are no plans for a Star Trek film to take place, we may never know what turns up in the future.

Patrick Stewart is currently playing a role in Paramount Plus’ “Picard,” alongside his Next Generation co-stars. If a movie comes out of this, it won’t be the first time Stewart and the team worked on the show and the movies simultaneously. During the 1987 to 1994 run of TNG, Stewart also starred in four Star Trek films.

The films were 1994’s Star Trek: Generations, 1996’s Star Trek: First Contact, 1998’s Star Trek: Insurrection, and 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. TNG cast was also part of the films, which means it’s still a solid possibility. Only time will tell if they get another film out of the franchise, but Patrick Stewart is down for it.
