Brock Lesnar made his shocking return to WWE television last month, as he decimated Roman Reigns and The Usos. It was then announced that Lesnar will face Reigns at SummerSlam in a last man standing match.

It was previously reported that Brock Lesnar simply refused to work SmackDown this week. The Beast was furious about the news of McMahon’s retirement and left the building.

When Brock showed up on the final segment of the show, many fans wondered whether it was all a work or not. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Brock Lesnar’s situation. He stated that WWE made a deal with Lesnar in order to ensure he would come back and avoid absolute disaster for the company.

It was imperative that they got Lesnar back. The basic gist was – the most famous guy on the roster who was the main guy advertised for the show on Boston, all of a sudden he walks out, that’s the worst that could happen. They made sure he came back. I was not told what the deal was to get him back. The worst thing they could have is that all of a sudden Vince left, and it’s anarchy. Brock leaving and SummerSlam changing would’ve been an absolute disaster at this time, so they made sure that did not happen.

Lesnar also returned to Smackdown with plenty of time left to rewrite the show. Goldberg was also being considered as Lesnar’s replacement for SummerSlam in case he never showed up. We’ll have to see whether Lesnar will be defeating Reigns or not.
