Dave Chappelle is quite a controversial comedian, his fans adore him regardless of that. However, Dave hasn’t opened for anyone in a while, but that all flipped on Saturday night when he energized the audience for Chris Rock and Kevin Hart.

At Madison Square Garden in New York City, everyone got a tremendous surprise as, without an introduction, Dave just came on the stage with a cig in his hand. He walked to Radiohead’s “Karma Police,” spoke in-depth on cancel culture, and the audience lapped it all up.

The venue that canceled his show in Minneapolis a few days ago after protests began was indirectly mentioned. Dave said, “Had to sneak my way in here,” continuing, “despite what you may have read about in the news, I’m okay, and I appreciate the support.”

Dave didn’t just spend a short while on stage, his introductory set lasted for more than 20 minutes. Dave complained that his bodyguards were sluggish to react because they were wearing dress shoes and that they were “sliding all over the place like at a bowling alley” when he was tackled at the Hollywood Bowl.

Dave made it pretty clear that he was upset that news organizations had referred to the attack as “alleged” while, in reality, it was all captured on video. Dave also expressed his wish for his attacker to get monkeypox while imprisoned.

“not that he should die, but his ass should itch for four to six weeks.”

Chris Rock and Kevin Hart spoke for an hour when it was their turn. They made frequent references to Will Smith. Chris also mocked cancel culture, saying, “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.” However, in a sort of competition to determine who was the G.O.A.T., the show concluded with all three on stage.
