Emma Stone turned into a younger version of Cruella de Vil, who ends up as the leading villain of 101 Dalmatians. Since Disney’s Cruella made a lot of strides in the box office as well as cheers from the younger audiences, Disney gave the film’s sequel a go-ahead.

Cruella 2 is under production, though details on the upcoming film have been next to none. The film’s actor Paul Walter Hauser revealed the plans for the film in a major way, along with updates on its script.

Hauser was in an interview with Forbes, and provided an update on the production and writing status for the film. While the film’s production might kickstart soon, the scripting is what controls its pace.

I’m told we’re doing it next year. I don’t know when, but I think Tony McNamara is writing the script right now. He’s probably tinkering away with that. We got to work around the ever-busy schedule of Craig Gillespie and Emma Stone, who are worth the wait, so anytime they want to do it, I’ll be there.

Stone and Gillespie do have incredibly packed schedules. Stone recently finished working on Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things adaptation and will move on Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s Showtime comedy series, The Curse. Gillespie is currently directing Apple TV+’s ongoing series Physical. Let’s hope that we can see Cruella 2 in theatres sometime next year.
