DC League of Super Pets will be released in less than a month, and Keanu Reeves visited audiences at the LA premiere to discuss about his brief cameo as The Dark Knight. The veteran actor provides the Caped Crusader voiceover. Keanu has also confessed that he would love to play a live-action Batman in the future.

The titular Super-Pets receive most of the attention in the movie, but their super owners will also appear on screen, albeit in smaller, more supporting roles than they are accustomed to. Reeves was questioned in an exclusive video from Extra about how he felt about the job and, more significantly, if he’d ever contemplate donning the cape in live-action. Reeves gets to voice Batman, the owner of Ace the Bat-Hound.

Reeves gushed about how amazing it was to voice one of his favorite comic book characters in the animated film. He also acknowledged that it would be remarkable to have the opportunity to play the Caped Crusader on screen. Reeves told Rachel Lindsey of Extra about the possibility in the future.

It’s always been a… it’s been a dream. Pattinson’s got Batman right now, and he’s doing awesome. Maybe down the road. Maybe when they need an older Batman.

In a previous Super-Pets trailer, Reeves’ gruff Batman voice was included, and it unmistakably matches the profile of an aged, weathered Dark Knight. It’s simple to imagine him taking on a Batman Beyond-style position, mentoring a replacement Gotham Defender. Reeves would immediately join some elite company, but one he could easily fit in with, if he ever received the call to portray Batman in a standalone movie or otherwise, joining Pattinson, Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and Adam West.

Reeves has had a successful career in which he has played some of the most recognizable action heroes ever depicted on screen, even if he never dons the suit. The actor has a long record of performances that demonstrate his suitability for the role of Batman, from Neo in The Matrix to John Wick in John Wick. On July 29, DC League of Super Pets will be available. See the Reeves interview from Extra down below.
