Former Champion Expected To Leave WWE Very Soon

WWE has a lot of people on their roster, but it seems that they are set to lose an influential member of their NXT division. The company’s developmental territory was a great place for Io Shirai, but it seems that her time with Vince McMahon’s company is coming to an end before she ever got that precious main roster call-up.

Shirai became one of the highlights of NXT’s women’s division over the years. She is a former NXT Women’s Champion and took part in numerous top-notch feuds in the company. She is also expected to leave WWE very soon.

As previously reported, Shirai has been out of action with an injury. In fact, she likely suffered the injury during NXT Stand & Deliver earlier this year.

Io Shirai was expected to return “relatively soon,” but that might not be happening now. Shirai’s contract was set to expire very soon, and she might have made her decision already.

While speaking on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer talked about Io Shirai’s status in WWE. He noted that Io Shirai is pretty much gone from the company.

“Io Shirai’s pretty much got her foot out of the door. Pretty much gone.”

Fans will certainly be disappointed to see The Genius Of The Sky no longer part of the company. However, she has chosen what will suit her the best and that’s all that matters in the end.
