Baseball fans witnessed a very scary moment on Thursday night. The California rivalry between the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants was in full swing at Petco Park. It was a tight game in the top of the fifth inning when an attempt to make a hustle play on defense led to a nasty collision in the outfield.

Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar rushed from left field to make a play on a shallow pop fly. CJ Abrams took off from the infield after the same ball. After Abrams made a great catch, Profar appeared to be struck in the face by his teammate’s knee.

Jurickson Profar had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. He was initially able to get back to his feet after the run-in. Unfortunately, he collapsed and appeared to pass out after just a few steps.

Athletic trainers raced to the field to offer assistance. Profar was eventually placed upon a stretcher. As he was taken off the field, he regained consciousness and was able to wave to the crowd.

The Padres noted that Jurickson Profar spent the night in the hospital. There have not been any further updates on his condition. Abrams was not hurt and stayed in the game.

In the end, San Diego got a 2-1 victory. Unfortunately, that result is secondary to the health of Jurickson Profar. Everybody at Thirsty is wishing him a speedy and full recovery after this very frightening incident.
