Drake is one of the most prominent hip-hop artists today. The Canadian rapper has seen a lot of success since the release of his album Certified Lover Boy. In terms of the biggest fall-off in the Billboard Hot 100’s history, Kendrick Lamar’s “We Cry Together” and Drake’s “Texts Go Green” are now tied.

After Drake’s most recent song, “Texts Go Green,” experienced the same bad fate this week, Kendrick Lamar is no longer the only artist to hold the record for the largest single-week drop in Billboard Hot 100 ever. When Lamar’s “We Cry Together” dropped 81 spots in a single week earlier this year, it broke the record. The week after their chart debuts, Drake’s song Honestly, Nevermind and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar both dropped 81 positions.

While “Texts Go Green” started at number 13 and dropped to number 94, “We Cry Together” debuted at number 16 and then fell to number 97. The contentious notion of “We Cry Together,” which makes it a very uncomfortable listen, especially when taken out of the larger context of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers as a whole, may have contributed to the song’s decline.

The failure of “Text Go Green,” on the other hand, is perhaps more depressing for Drake because it obviously aims for a more replay-able vibe. Honestly, Nevermind by Drake is still the third-best-selling album overall on the Billboard 200. The album’s singles “Jimmy Cooks” (No. 5), “Sticky” (No. 17), “Massive” (No. 44), and “Falling Back” (No. 64) are all included in the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to “Texts Go Green.”

Drake also hinted that he will be releasing new music soon when he said, “I got another Scary Hours pack coming too in a little bit. I’ma slap some headtops off with this Scary Hours pack.” on his SiriusXM radio show. Listen to “We Cry Together” and “Texts Go Green” below.
