Caleb Johnson is an amazing artist who won the 13th season of American Idol, thanks to his inborn talent. Caleb gained a lot of admirers’ hearts, and his popularity among them is still spreading. Johnson just made a statement that could surprise many. He stated that his debut song from the show is ‘utter crap’.

The “American Idol” season 13 winner spoke candidly about his time on the program, calling the song he had to play as a reward for winning the singing competition “utter crap.”

After being named the winner of the popular show in 2014, Caleb Johnson was required to perform “As Long as You Love Me,” which he described as a “cheesy piece of crap.” Johnson told Insider that, despite his best efforts, the producers ignored his comments about the music.

“I knew that, by de facto, if you won you had to sing the song, and the song was just utter crap. Like, it was just the worst song ever.”

“I pitched a fit about it to the management company and all this stuff. And they were like, look at this as kind of a graduation present or something.”

Johnson remembered having to play the song on his summer post-Idol tour with his other competitors, calling the experience a “horror” due to the pressure of performing in front of a live audience. Johnson added that the record label “placed absolutely no support behind the record,”

“We did at the beginning, but they switched it. They switched it about halfway because it just wasn’t working. It was not working, and it was a nightmare.”

“The label wouldn’t release the single, there was no single that came out after the record was done. There was no music video. There was nothing.”

In another part of the conversation, Johnson admitted that he was “very sad” to have won his season of the competition. Immediately following his “American Idol” victory in 2014, Johnson released his debut album, “Testify.”

Following the release of his debut album, Johnson quit Interscope Records and started a new band called Caleb Johnson and the Ramblin’ Saints. However, American Idol had not released any statement regarding this. Let’s see how they will react. For further updates, stay tuned to Thirsty.
