Avatar 2 is one of the most anticipated films of all time, and it’s been this way for more than a decade. While Avatar still stands as one of the most spectacular and successful films of all time, James Cameron took his time to develop the sequel. Now it seems that he himself dropped a major spoiler for Avatar: The Way of Water.

The spoiler is about Sigourney Weaver and her character, Dr. Grace Augustine. The star was a xenobotanist for Project Avatar, and a crucial aspect of the first film. However, Jake Sully tries to save her in the end, though she dies. She becomes part of the Eywa, leaving her mortal body.

James Cameron recently had an interview with Empire, and he gave a major spoiler about Weaver’s character. While Jake and Neytiri both adopt a human-seeming kid, they have another child called, Kiri. Cameron revealed that the child Kiri is played by Weaver herself.

Cameron said that the 72-year-old actress worked with teenage actresses in order to play the character. He added that Weaver actually kept in the energy of Kiri throughout the time of the shooting.

Sigourney just became younger. She looked younger, she had more energy, and she never quite stepped out of Kiri for our whole capture period. She had a glow on her face and lightness in her step and a fun spirit.

Kiri is apparently adopted as well, according to Cameron. That makes sense, because it makes the angle of Kiri being a reincarnation of Dr. Grace Augustine possible. While the movie stands almost half a year away from release, the idea of the legendary Alien actress coming back as a teenager is exciting for fans indeed.
