Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez first met when they were just 15 years old and have stayed close ever since. They appeared together in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video in 2014, and in December of the same year, they even received matching rose tattoos. To everyone’s surprise, they shared an on-screen kiss recently and, apparently, that made fans uncomfortable.

The first two episodes of Only Murders in the Building’s second season debuted recently, and viewers’ reactions to Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez’s on-screen kiss have been mixed. Delevingne made her debut as Alice, a new series regular and the love interest of Gomez’s character, Mabel, in season two of the Hulu criminal comedy starring Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.

In order to release her pent-up rage, Alice invites Mabel to her art studio in the second episode, “Frame,” where they each damage a sculpture. The two then exchange kisses. On Twitter, fans have criticized the kiss, with some pointing out the couple’s lack of chemistry.

One fan tweeted: “Selena Gomez not knowing how to kiss girls is one of the biggest heartbreaks of this year so far.”

Another wrote: “The way I would’ve ate up the Selena Gomez kiss a year ago but after watching First Kill I refuse to watch that closed mouth sh*t anymore.”

A third one chimed in, saying: “Selena Gomez would rather shove her head into a microwave than kiss Cara Delevingne.”

Gomez recently expressed her opposition to the US Supreme Court’s decision to repeal Roe v. Wade on the red carpet opening of the show’s second season. Gomez drew attention to a tweet she made on June 24 that gave a link to Planned Parenthood’s resources for anyone wishing to actively contest the decision. Only Murders in the Building airs new episodes on Tuesdays on Hulu in the US.
