Kanye West was married to Kim Kardashian for nearly seven years, but the marriage came to a disastrous end. Kim found new love in Pete Davidson. Kanye, on the other hand, had his share of flings. Ye is also never one to keep his thoughts to himself.

The “Stronger” rapper was on stage to honor Diddy with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards on Sunday. Ye even took the opportunity to throw subtle shade towards his former wife.

“I go to [Diddy] for advice to this day. He inspires so many of my choices. So many of my life choices. My wife choices. And here we are — thanks for that, Puff.”

Apart from the little jab towards Kim, Kanye dedicated most of his speech to thank Diddy for being an inspiration to him, recalling how he used to listen to Puff’s old mixtapes in his mom’s house.

“This man has survived a lot of stuff and broke down a lot of doors so we could be here today. He broke down so many doors about classism, taste, culture, swag. Puff, if I never told you…I love you.

“This is my favorite artist. See what I’m saying? Favorite artist. Everything. Not specifically production. Back then, it was so many rules to hip hop and he broke all of them. And broke down all the doors. And understood contracts in a way a lot of us still don’t. He understood money in a way a lot of us still don’t.”

Kim and Kanye actually attended Diddy’s 50th birthday party together in 2019, but their marriage has fallen apart since then. Kim filed for divorce in February 2021, and the two were declared “legally single” by a judge in March 2022.
