Madonna is one of the most unique performers of all time. The Material Girl has always marched to the tune of her own drummer. Even when she takes acting roles, Madonna can frequently be very demanding about how she is presented.

The Michigan native has reinvented herself constantly over the years. That has allowed her to have a surprising amount of longevity. Madonna is so protective of her look that she once refused to dress like a normal office worker during a TV guest spot.

In 2003, Madonna made a cameo on the hit sitcom, ‘Will & Grace.’ She was supposed to play an office worker. Executive producer Gary Janetti recently talked about Madonna’s refusal to dress for her role on an episode of ‘Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yountef.’

“[She’s] like an executive secretary, the kind of woman who wears her sneakers on the subway and carries her shoes in her bag and goes to a happy hour after work and thinks she’s kind of like, you know, a big deal in her tiny office.

So she was supposed to wear, you know, Anne Klein II suits with sneakers and be the kind of woman you’d see on the subway. And Madonna as that is very funny … but Madonna didn’t want to wear any of those clothes.

So she looked fabulous, but as a result, it was about 50 percent less funny than it should have been.”

Even decades past the peak of her career, Madonna gets what she wants. Most celebrities would not have the audacity to refuse to dress for an acting role. Madonna isn’t most people, and that’s why she has been around for so long.
