Sandra Bullock announced in March that she was stepping away from Hollywood for a while. The ‘Speed’ star said at the time that she wanted to spend more time with her family. Bullock pointed out that she takes acting so seriously that it was cutting into her personal life.

The actress spoke more in-depth with The Hollywood Reporter about the circumstances that led her to step away. She said that being beholden to a production schedule made it tough as she tries to raise her two kids. Sandra Bullock claimed work was becoming a crutch for her.

“I don’t want to be beholden to anyone’s schedule other than my own. I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions and I know it.

Work has always been steady for me, and I’ve been so lucky. I realized it possibly was becoming my crutch. It was like opening up a fridge all the time and looking for something that was never in the fridge. I said to myself, ‘Stop looking for it here because it doesn’t exist here. You already have it; establish it, find it and be OK not having work to validate you.'”

Sandra said she was not sure how long the break will last. Bullock did, however, agree to star in and produce ‘The Lost City.’ That movie pulled in $190 million in worldwide box office receipts. Still, she said all the publicity and touring takes away from her enjoyment of the work.

Time will tell when Sandra Bullock decides to return to the silver screen. For now, she is feeling burned out. Bullock simply wants to devote time to the people who matter most.
