Dejounte Murray celebrated Father’s Day in a huge way this year. The San Antonio Spurs star signed a four-year, $64 million contract in 2019. A ton of high-profile sports stars shared their celebrations of the day. Murray showed his dad some huge love while reaping the rewards of NBA stardom.

In a video posted to Instagram, Dejounte presented his father with a brand new truck. His father was overwhelmed by the emotion of the moment. He gave Dejounte Murray a massive hug before breaking down in tears.

Murray didn’t always have the closest relationship with his father. In the Instagram post, he noted that for seven or eight years, the two did not get along. Dejounte said he did not want to live with regret, so he wants to mend their issues before it was too late.

“We Had Our Differences For Almost 7-8 Years And I Just Want A Relationship With My Dad Before It’s Too Late And Not Have One Of Us Living With Regrets Of Not Being A Man And Fixing The Problems We Had. I Love You Dad More Than You Will Ever Know And Thank You For Taking Ownership On Why You Wasn’t There As Much As I Wanted You To Be As A Kid But What Matters Is Focusing On What’s Right And That’s Fixing Our Son/Father Relationship RIGHT NOW!! Happy Birthday And Happy Early Fathers Day And I Hope You Love The Truck King.”

Dejounte Murray is coming off a very productive 2021-22 season for the Spurs. He averaged 21.1 points per game to go with 8.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists. The big contract San Antonio gave him is paying off.

The generous gift was just one step in mending the relationship between Dejounte Murray and his father. It was great to see him look past their differences. Hopefully, their relationship continues to grow in the future.
