Jiri Prochazka became infamous among MMA fans for his unique hairstyle. Jiri was always changing things up, but his single tuft of lengthy locks has allowed him to have one of the most versatile heads of hair in UFC. Now, the reigning light heavyweight champion is sporting a brand new look.

Prochazka pulled off a huge upset when he defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 275 to capture the title. After nearly losing the fight, he stormed back in the final minute. Glover tapped out with under 30 seconds remaining in the final round.

TMZ reported that Jiri Prochazka spoke about the reason for his haircut. He said now that he is a champion, it was time to end one chapter of his life and begin a new one. The hair was symbolic of that transition.

“I cut my hair because I needed to end one chapter of my life. So now I can start with new energy, new wave. Honestly.”

Jiri has not fully committed to sticking with his new buzz cut. He said he might grow his hair back in the future. For now, he’s just enjoying his new life as a champion.

Prochazka is currently sporting a stellar 29-3-1 record in professional mixed martial arts. He will now have a major target on his back as fighters vie to take his title. At least they won’t be able to pull his hair.
