Throughout Beyonce’s career, she has swum against the tide and chosen to make moves that defy industry standards. She perfected the art of the surprise album and rarely sits down for an interview. There has been a lot of buzz that she would be dropping new music sometime this year. It appears, her latest album will drop sooner than previously thought.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter surprised fans on Wednesday night by unveiling the title and release date of her highly-anticipated seventh studio album. The R&B diva, who boasts 348.5M social media followers, changed her Instagram/Twitter bios to read, ‘Act i RENAISSANCE 7.29.’

It’s the first album since she released Lemonade in 2016 and she even hinted at the name of the new album last year. The Be Alive songstress said in her Harper’s Bazaar cover story that her new album would represent a ‘renaissance’ a year ago, after the world spent time in lockdown.

The album announcement comes just days after she took down all of her profile pictures. Fans immediately began to speculate about the album release. After the announcement, Knowles-Carter’s fans understandably went wild on Twitter, posting funny memes that best illustrated their excitement over Renaissance.
