Paul Pierce is remembered for his time in the NBA as a superstar for the Boston Celtics. Since his retirement, Pierce has seen his share of controversy. The latest involves a lawsuit over a massive gambling debt.

TMZ reports that Paul Pierce is being sued after he borrowed $150,000 to play poker. Stephen Carmona loaned Paul the cash after he asked if he could temporarily bankroll him. Pierce promised to pay Carmona back within ten days.

That payment allegedly never came. A lawsuit filed by Carmona claims Paul Pierce lost $140,000 in the high-stakes poker game and only ever paid back $10,000. A week later, Stephen Carmona loaned Pierce another $40,000 with the promise that he would pay it all back.

Pierce lost all $40,000 during the second game. He has been accused of not paying either loan back. Carmona is asking for $180,000 plus interest in the lawsuit.

Paul Pierce has not publicly commented on the legal entanglement. Pierce is no stranger to civil litigation. In 2018, he was sued for calling a security guard a racist at a Conor McGregor fight. Paul also got sued after he hired a man to build and run his cannabis operation but never paid.

The massive gambling debt owed by Paul Pierce should not be a problem. Paul earned nearly $200 million during his playing career. Stephen Carmona just wants his money back.
