Disneyland Apologizes After Employee Hijacks Marriage Proposal At Sleeping Beauty’s Castle

Disneyland is known as the “Happiest Place On Earth” and it’s amazing to think about how many couples had their “happily ever after” moment at Disneyland Park in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle or at Walt Disney World Resort in front of Cinderella Castle. Disney proposals can be some of the most magical moments on earth, but it was not the case for one unlucky couple.

In a 21-second viral video, a man can be seen getting down on one knee to propose to his partner while standing on a platform in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, Paris. As he pulled out the box with the ring, a Disneyland employee ran between the couple, grabbed the ring, and directed them off the platform.

The confused-looking couple followed as the man attempted to speak to the employee. The Disneyland employee then said, “Yes, that’s great, but over here it’s going to be even better,” while continuing to direct the couple away from the platform. People can be heard booing the employee at the end of the video.

After the incident went viral, Disney quickly offered their apology for disrupting this beautiful moment. A Disney spokesperson told Newsweek, “We regret how this was handled, We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.” A moment the couple would have remembered forever is now going to be remembered for different reasons.

The video went viral after being posted on the Reddit forum “I Am a Total Piece of Sh*t,” by Reddit user u/wasgehtlan. It quickly garnered nearly 95,000 upvotes on the platform. The person who posted the video claimed to be a friend of the couple and said in the comments that a female employee had given them permission to go on the platform after learning that he was proposing.

Disney probably has a strict policy about their stages being used for such things. After all, they put on official performances in those spaces. Long story short, this proposal was obviously not officially endorsed by Disney. While people debate the issue, you can check out the clip below.
