The Hunger Games is one of the most popular adult-fiction series aroud. The series was a literary success, which led to it eventually getting a theatrical release. With The Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Part 2 being last in the theatrical series, there has been no film project for the series. That is about to change as the franchise will continue getting milked with a new addition.

2023 will be the year when it changes for the Hunger Games, as a first look for a new THG movie project is out. ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ aired ahead of the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The Hunger Games film series has followed the trilogy of the novels so far. The upcoming project will be based on the 2019 novel by Suzanne Collins, which is a prequel to the trilogy.

The prequel will be based on the formative years of President Coriolanus Snow. While the character has been played by Donald Sutherland in the series, Tom Blyth is in talks to play the younger version of him. West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler is on board as Lucy Gray Baird, who becomes assigned to Snow as the girl tribute from District 12.

The film is already scheduled for a release of November 17, 2023. Francis Lawrence is set to return as the director of the new project. Lawrence was also behind the direction of two of the three films in the trilogy, which garnered $3 billion worldwide.
