Cheryl Burke has been a mainstay on American television sets since joining “Dancing With the Stars” in 2007. Burke’s professional success was matched in her personal life when she found love with “Boy Meets World” star Matthew Lawrence in 2006. The couple got married in 2019, but sadly were divorced in February of this year. Despite the time that passed since their split, Cheryl isn’t ready to date again.

The three-year marriage between Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence came to an end after Cheryl cited “irreconcilable differences.” The couple had a rocky history together before ever trying the knot. They broke up in 2008 before reuniting in 2017.

On a recent episode of her “Burke in the Game” podcast, Cheryl discussed how she feels about the divorce. The dancer admitted that she misses her ex-husband like crazy. Cheryl also noted that she is afraid to start dating again just yet.

“I fear dating. I don’t love going out, let alone going out sober, and meeting new people. This is exactly why I have social phobia,” said Cheryl. “On top of it, it’s like the small talk … and then if I do like somebody, the waiting by the phone. I don’t like that feeling. I’m 38 years old, like god forbid, is this guy gonna text back, like how long is it gonna be? I don’t like that and I feel so desperate in a way, in a weird way. The whole dating app thing scares me a little bit too.

I don’t even see myself dating any time soon. I just know that I can’t give, I don’t have anything to give at the moment. I owe so many years to myself that I don’t think that I would be of any — it would be a waste of time, honestly.”

Cheryl Burke isn’t quite ready to dip her heels back into the dating game. It sounds like she is going to need some more time for those old wounds to heal. For now, she is focusing on taking care of herself.
