Kim Kardashian has been an advocate for prison reform for quite some time. The reality star’s latest foray into activism comes with a heartbreaking cause. Kardashian is lobbying for the father of a 10-year-old victim of the Uvalde, Texas school shooting to be released from incarceration to attend her funeral.

In a social media post, Kim Kardashian shared a photo of ten-year-old Ellie Cruz Torres on Thursday. Kardashian pleaded with the Bureau of Prisons to release her father to attend her memorial service. Ellie’s dad is currently behind bars for a non-violent drug offense.

“Her family are desperately hoping that her father, who is incarcerated for a non violent drug offense, be granted temporary release so that he can attend her funeral.

I ask the Federal Bureau of Prisons to grant Eli Torres temporary release so that he can say his last goodbye to his baby girl. Every parent deserves that right.”

Eli Torres is currently serving a 25-year drug trafficking sentence in Kentucky. He has been given the option of watching a live stream of the service but said he would prefer to be there in person. Thus far, authorities are not listening.

Ellie and 18 of her classmates were shot and killed by a man armed with an assault rifle last week. The horrific school shooting in Uvalde, Texas sent shockwaves throughout the country. For Eli Torres, the situation has become an even more unimaginable nightmare.
