Joe Biden is facing criticism over a lot of issues these days. The President has been dealing with controversy over his son, Hunter’s business ties. He’s also faced a global pandemic, Russia’s war with Ukraine, astronomical gas prices, and a baby formula shortage that has been hurting families nationwide.

The latest round of criticism is coming on the heels of a statement Biden made about when he became aware of the formula crisis. In a recent White House roundtable, President Biden noted that he didn’t even know there was a problem until months after it started. Biden had no clue the shutdown of one manufacturing facility could be so bad.

“I became aware of this problem sometime in early April, about how intense it was. We did everything in our power from that point on.

I don’t think anyone anticipated the impact of the shutdown of one facility.”

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden had been working to respond to the shortage since “day one.” That is not the case. Joe Biden himself has now claimed that he was unaware until just over a month ago.

Formula manufacturers knew that when a recall forced an Abbott plant to shut down, there would be an immediate effect. Why this was not communicated with officials is unknown. The lack of communication has caused a serious problem for families who are finding it increasingly difficult to provide formula for their babies.
