Houston Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson landed himself in hot water last year as quite a few women came forward and filed lawsuits against him, alleging sexual assault. Watson had denied all the allegations made against him, stating that he has “never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect. Another lawsuit has been filed against him as well.
According to TMZ, a 23rd female massage therapist has filed a lawsuit against Deshaun Watson. The woman claimed that she decided to file the documentation after watching the HBO special on the quarterback earlier last month.
In the lawsuit, filed in Harris County, Texas on Tuesday, Nia Smith claimed that Watson was sexually inappropriate with her during three separate massage sessions in 2020.
She did not sue Watson over the fear of backlash last year. However, Smith claimed that after watching a piece on Watson and his accusers during HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” last week, she changed her mind.
“After seeing Watson publicly refuse to take responsibility for his action,” Smith’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, according to court documents, “saying he had ‘no regrets,’ and Watson’s lawyer repeatedly calling the women liars, [Smith] decided enough was enough.”
“She decided that Watson needs to be held accountable,” Buzbee continued. “She does not want him to get away with his lies.”
“Today we filed suit for the 23rd plaintiff in this litigation,” Buzbee wrote in a statement to TMZ Sports just after filing the lawsuit. “Other cases may come. The Watson defense team has vilified these women and this cause. Shame on them! We look forward to trying this case in court.”
For his part, Deshaun Watson denied all allegations made against him. The NFL is also believed to make a rule on his harassment case this Summer. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
